A game drive in the Zambezi National Park offers a raw, unfenced wilderness experience that feels distinctly different from the private reserve drives. Since the park borders the Zambezi River, the scenery is a lush mix of riverine forests, open savannah, and mopane woodlands. The park is home to four of the "Big Five", lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo while rhinos are generally only found in the nearby private reserve, Zambezi National Park excels in "unscripted" encounters. Drives often follow the river's edge, where you'll see massive pods of hippos, crocodiles sunning on banks, and elephants crossing the water. This is a 56,000-hectare park with no fences, feels much more "wild" and unpredictable than private reserves.
