The Bushtracks Express is a luxury steam train experience that recreates the "Golden Age" of rail travel. It is widely considered the most romantic and elegant evening activity in Victoria Falls, combining a historical journey to the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge with a high-end fine dining experience.
The train consists of three beautifully restored vintage carriages dating from the 1920s to the 1950s, featuring polished teak, brass fittings, and plush leather seating. The train departs from the historic Victoria Falls Station (the oldest building in town) and travels through the National Park toward the Victoria Falls Bridge. The locomotive stops directly in the middle of the bridge. You can disembark to enjoy "sundowners" (drinks and snacks) while watching the sun set behind the spray of the Falls—a truly bucket-list photography moment.
The catering is provided by the world-renowned Victoria Falls Hotel, ensuring a five-star culinary standard. A formal 5-course gourmet dinner is served in the "Wembley" dining carriage. Dishes often feature local twists like ostrich carpaccio or Zambezi bream. The experience is all-inclusive of local beers, South African wines, and soft drinks. Premium spirits and champagne are available for an extra charge. The staff provides an "old-world" level of service, often sharing historical anecdotes about the railway's construction and the Cape-to-Cairo dream.

Travel tip
- In the winter months (May–August), the temperature drops significantly once the sun sets. Since the observation car is open-sided, it is essential to bring a warm jacket or pashmina.
- The Dress Code is Smart Casual. While a tuxedo isn't required, most guests dress up. Shorts and flip-flops are discouraged to match the elegant setting.
- You must bring your passport, as the train enters the "no-man's land" on the bridge between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
- Bushtracks Express vs. Royal Livingstone Express. It is easy to confuse these two, as they are operated by the same company. Bushtracks Express departs from the Zimbabwe side (Victoria Falls town) running on Tuesdays and Fridays whilst the Royal Livingstone Express departs from the Zambia side (Livingstone) and usually runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
